We're making excellent progress towards Trinidad! Last night, we passed south of Barbados and are now approaching Tobago. The anticipation is building – we expect to see land later today and then make our way down the coast of tobago this evening. And to reach Trinidad first thing tomorrow morning.
First light will allow us to enter the channel on the west side of the island. From there, it's a couple of hours to the customs wharf, where we hope to check in and finally get some well-deserved rest before the midday cut-off.
On a positive note, the engine vibrations we experienced the night before seem to be a thing of the past. While we were still encountering a lot of seaweed yesterday, the vibrations didn't return. Curious to investigate further, we decided to take a targeted approach. We aimed for the biggest clump of seaweed we could see, and sure enough, the vibrations started again. A quick dip of the GoPro on a stick revealed what we suspected: seaweed on the propeller! Mystery solved thanks to a little underwater videography.
As this is a yacht delivery blog and not a yacht in port blog there will be a well earned blog break until we leave for the leg to Panama.
This is a pretty interesting shot of the prop as it's about to fold. Just after this the seaweed slid off the blades and we carried on.
